The Cardassian and Bajoran star systems are approximately 50 LY from core Federation worlds, and are separated by ~5.25 LY.

The wormhole (verteron-driven tunneling phenomenon) lies in the Denorius belt (plasma field) about 300 million km from the Bajoran sun.

Both Bajor and Cardassia Prime possess similar abundances of crustal resource. However Cardassian access to the sub-surface material to maintain the current level of civilization is more limited than Bajor. The main resource is Uridium ore.
