Cardassia Prime is the homeworld of the Cardassian civilization. It has a hot climate and is highly industrialized. The unit of monetary currency used is the lek. Visitors are reminded that Cardassians are wary of outsiders and do not take kindly to interference.
In the capital, one of the main sites is the Imperial Plaza. here, you can see statues of famous and revered leaders, the newest addition being one to Gul Dukat. In addition, the large viewscreens allow an unhindered view of the public broadcasts by govermental leaders and other notables.
Near to the capital is Lakarian City, which boasts an amazing amusement centre, a definite must for family with young children. Another notable city on Prime is Lakat.
Coming to Prime, viewing the ruins of the First Hebitian Civilization is requisite. These archaelogical marvels are scattered across the planet, a legacy of the ancient people of Cardassia and a symbol of ancient glory for the Cardassians. Most of the sites have been disturbed, but it may still be possible to find an intact piece of Gemanite, a rare stone which adorned many artifacts of that era.
Among the animals that may be easily encountered on Prime are gettles (native wild herd animal), wompats (mainly found as pets in Cardassian households), voles (rodents which have an affinity for EM fields) and riding hounds (medium sized draft animals used for riding). Voles can also be seen at vole fights, which is a popular spectator sport, which also involves a large element of gambling.
